Dungeon & Dragons: Paths of Destiny
Dungeons & Dragons: Path of Destiny was a narrative-based RPG based in the ever popular Dungeons and Dragons Universe.
Dungeons & Dragons: Path of Destiny featured an innovate card based choices system, branching narrative choices and a fresh new look for the brand. I was responsible for providing wireframes, flows and documentation for the games features, alongside providing art direction across the game and implementing the user interface.
Dungeons & Dragons: Path of Destiny was cancelled during development.
Game Design & User Experience
As part of a small prototyping team, I was responsible ensuring that that that the user experience was easy to understand as well as delivering on the promise of a deep narrative experience that consumers have come to expect from the D&D brand. I was responsible for ideating the games main innovation, narrative cards and constructing a meta-game around the core narrative experience. I provided high-quality documentation, low fidelity and high fidelity wireframes and prototypes to the team, and then iterated both the documentation and in-game to build a slick and delightful experience.
Art Direction
While the Dungeons & Dragons brand has has a long-established brand, as a team, we felt that in order to reach an audience outside of the established D&D audience we would need to refresh and broaden the appeal of its central characters and environments. We were inspired by the early Dungeons & Dragons cartoon series of the early 80s and set about establishing a new look and feel for the brand that would give the game more casual appeal. Illustrations and character art where provided by a third party under my brief and direction.
