LEGO Pocket Builder
LEGO Pocket Builder was LEGO-based building game which allowed players to build modular dioramas and share them with a community of like-minded builders to earn votes and unlock more LEGO Minifigures and Parts to build with. Featuring charming, fully animated Minifigures and an innovate drag and drop modular building system, the game hoped to be the defining LEGO game on mobile. I was responsible for the initial concept and product management and creative direction of the game, alongside my usual responsibilities until the game was scaled for preproduction, at which point I became responsible for all aspects of the game’s user interface and user experience.
LEGO Pocket Builder was cancelled during development.
Game Design and User Experience
In conjunction with the development team, I was responsible for all aspects of LEGO Pocket Builder’s user experience ensuring that the game was both intuitive and easy to understand as well as delivering on the promise of a delightful building experience that consumers have come to expect from the LEGO brand. As a new and innovate type of play pattern the team would iterate quickly through ideas based on the wireframes and documentation I provided.
User Interface Visual Development
Working alongside the Art Director I was responsible for the visual development of all aspects of LEGO Pocket Builder’s user interface. I drew heavily on the existing brand, leveraging key assets from the brand’s world-renowned packaging and marketing to create an authentic, fun and vibrant aesthetic that appeals to a broad audience beyond the traditional children’s market for which LEGO is so well known.
